Tee Season Opens in Nişantaşı: Three In-House T-Shirt Routes for May

By mid-May, the days in Nişantaşı really start to demand a single layer. There is still a soft breeze in the morning, but by the afternoon the weight of a t-shirt's cotton on your shoulders becomes the main story. At the Hüsrev Gerede store, the pieces moving most this season are the in-house tees again — t-shirts cut, printed and finished in our own workshop, designed to actually live on the street.

Below are three different routes from the new season tee selection, and how each of them speaks on a Nişantaşı sidewalk. Three routes that can replace each other on the same day, but each builds a complete look on its own.

1. The Quiet Route: The Calm Maturity of the Pocket Logo

If you want to see how much a t-shirt can say while saying very little, look no further than the brown Pocket Logo tee. There is nothing on it apart from a small detail stitched above the chest pocket; everything else is in how the cotton drops and how the cut sits. Its grey sibling is the same piece, only with a more midtown attitude — a tee that works for an afternoon coffee, an after-work meet, an evening walk.

Two things take this route to the street. The first is the bottom: the softened blue of the Garment-Dye Loose Fit Jeans speaks the same language as both the brown and grey tees. For calmer days, a dark navy loose-fit sets the same outfit on a more grown-up note. The second is the sneaker: the Adidas Samba OG Burgundy sits in the same warm scale as the brown tee, while the New Balance 1906 Grey Midnight ties the whole grey route together in one breath. A cream For Your Pleasure cap closes the look without doing too much.

2. The Graphic Route: In-House Drawings and a Bit of Street Character

For anyone following the in-house drawing line, the real show in May lives on the graphic tees. The off-white Heart Tee is one of the most recognisable marks of the store; the hand-drawn heart sits across the chest with the same warmth it has always had. For a sharper read, the black version carries the exact same print on a different temperature. Add pieces like the white Dragon Tee and the Lips Tee to that, and the in-house graphic line becomes a small collection rather than a single pick.

This route asks the bottom to step back, so a pair of black loose-fit jeans or a raw rinse loose-fit is the most natural call. On the foot, you want a calm sole that lets the print breathe: the layered browns of the New Balance 1906 Thunder Brown soften next to black denim, and on lighter days the Samba OG Night Navy nods along with almost any graphic on top. If a head note is needed, a bordeaux For Your Pleasure cap adds a little depth.

3. The Colour Route: One Extra Note of Courage for the Nişantaşı Sidewalk

The third route is fully about colour. For the moment in mid-May when the weather lets you, the Hydrated Tee Pink is one of the most-asked pieces in store; the pink print lifts the street rather than weighing it down. The Soap Tee Navy Plum takes the same idea on a deeper blue-purple register. For a cleaner contrast, the off-white Bead Tee already has enough detail to stand on its own.

The sneaker side is where this route really opens up. The pink Hydrated meets the Spezial Clear Pink / Green in the same palette, while a navy plum tee finds a more urban close in the 2002R Gore-Tex Black. On the bottom, the Banana Split Loose Fit Jeans opens the look up with a livelier wash, while a dark navy loose-fit brings it back to a calmer reading. The cap selection in store can move the same tee into an entirely different outfit just by switching one note.

A Note from the Store

The three routes above are also three different doors into the wider t-shirt selection. A pocket logo for a quiet day, an in-house graphic for a day with a little more character, a colour piece for a day that asks for some courage. Whichever route you pick, slipping in a loose-fit cut from the denim collection and the right tone from the sneaker selection below it leaves you fully kitted out for the May Nişantaşı sidewalk. At the Hüsrev Gerede store you can try all three on the same rail; most days, it's the t-shirt that decides the temperature of everything else.
